History of National Cadet Corps

The history of NCC dates back to 1917 to the ‘University Corps’ which was created under the Indian Defence Act with the intention of making up the shortage of the Army. During the independence movement the leaders of our Nation had realised the need to create a national level youth organisation , to train and groom young boys as responsible Indians and future leaders of our great Country.

National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Service Organisation, which is grooming the youth of the country inculcating values of patriotism. The National Cadet Corps was established through the Act of Parliament on 15th July 1948. the function of raising the first NCC unit at Delhi was held on the last Sunday of Nov 1948 which was presided by the Prime Minister of India pandit Jawarlal Nehru. This day is traditionally celebrated as the NCC Day.
